UQ Dance Executives 2010

Interested in getting involved in UQ Dance?
Yep, so its that time of year again. Next week, we are going to vote in a new team of Executives! As usual, I believe your current bunch of execs are going to go for roles again but are hoping to shuffle around. There are going to be a lot more roles this time as well! But as always, we shall all vote on it!
Below you will find role descriptions. These are the people who will be ultimately responsible for particular tasks, we have always however, shared the load. So, there is also a general role decription that applies to all executives.
Any UQ Dance Executive:
- You are a representative of UQ Dance, and as such, you are to be at all times appropriate, presentable, and friendly when partaking in club activities.
- You are a representative of a panel of executives, as such, you must communicate effectively, and make decisions together with other executives.
President:
- Overall control and responsibility of the club. Their responsibility is to ensure that all other executives are performing their duties, and that cut-off dates are met.
- Must organize, set-up, and pack-up the weekly Wednesday night workshop and social dancing, as well as Market days.
- Are required to write a weekly review of the workshop, or arrange one to be written, and sent to the Public Relations Officer.
- Will be required to complete documentation from the Union relating to membership, market days, etc.
Secretary:
- Assumes responsibility for updating and maintaining membership records, as well as uploading members to our email mailing list.
- Also chairs general meetings, and takes minutes for any executive team meetings, maintaining records of these meetings.
- Also is responsible, with the Treasurer, to organise the AGM.
Treasurer:
- Assumes financial control of the club. It is their responsibility to maintain financial records, prepare audits, and be in COMPLETE control of money matters. It is their responsibility to KNOW and understand all monetary matters of the club, and is the only one to bank any cash – NO EXCEPTIONS!
- Must keep a running account of these records, ie. Enter receipts as we get them, and is responsible for the cheque book. As general policy, the treasurer must always be a signatory on a cheque to ensure the treasurer is always aware of all financial matters.
- It is also their responsibilty, to organise the AGM with the secretary.
Vice-President:
- Acts as support for all presidential activities, ie. Weekly workshops, market day, general club activities, etc.
- Must be able to act in place of President if need be.
Public Relations Officer:
- Assumes responsibility for ALL emails outgoing from the website, as well as the content on our website.
- They are to be the person to respond to all questions about the club, our activities, and events, and are to relay information to relevant executives.
- They are essentially responsible for the image of UQ Dance.
- Must communicate with necessary executives about upcoming events, potential events, etc.
Events Organizers (2 of them):
- Responsible for the organization of 2 picnics (one within the first 3 weeks of each semester), 2 movie nights, and an end of semester party, every semester.
- In addition, they are responsible for organizing any additional events that UQ Dance are invited to be apart of during semester.
Troupe Leaders (One Male, One Female):
- Responsible for the organization and training of the ‘UQ Dance Troupies’. They should have enough ability and experience to teach others to dance, and should be able to Rueda and Charleston.
- They will be required to put together troupes, and perform at events.
- They are also required to run weekly troupe sessions a sufficient number of weeks prior to any event, if not, the majority of weeks in the semester.
So there you have it folks, it will be a big exciting year!
