1st Picnic for the Year – time to get social!
March 15th, 2012Time to get keen everyone!
This Saturday (St Patrick’s Day) will be the momentus, epicness which is our UQ DANCE picnic.
Keeping with tradition, it will be held at New Farm Park from noon till 5pm. The unofficial rumours around the water cooler say that the picnic will kick-on to somewhere in the valley for some St Paddy’s fun but you didn’t hear it from me 
Details:
Getting there: you can catch a bus to the valley (I think its the 199) and walk from the shops down to the park or you can get on a ferry and disembark at New Farm Park.
We are usually set up near the ferry terminal with a huge banner and loud music so it shouldn’t be hard to find us.
Rules: bring something (ie food or drink) to share with the group. Be prepared to dance and make a fool of yourself in public…just don’t fall in the river

2012 – A Year Filled with DANCE!
March 14th, 2012FINALLY! The website is up and running for 2012 with all new members now connected to this dancing community (yay!)
This week at the usual place (in front of the Lolly Shop) and the usual time (6:30pm) we will be continuing our SALSA lessons!
We’ve brought in our Salsa experts (JC and Nicole) to refine our skills and make us all smmmoootttthhhhh on the dance floor.

A Note on Dance Troupe
March 1st, 2011Hi Everyone,
I’ve had a couple inquiries about Dance Troupe and Just thought that I would give a quick heads up. Dance Troupe will be starting on the second week of semester. Final details will be posted in the coming days, by which point we will also have a completed Dance Troupe page.
For those of you who are not yet familiar with what Dance Troupe is, come along to our regular Wednesday Night social dance session where we will be giving a full explanation.
A Big Shout-Out
February 24th, 2011Hi everyone, I’d just like to thank everyone who was able to help out at out Market-day stall yesterday. Everything was a huge success with around 400 new members signing up to the club. Things were so hectic that we weren’t even able to sign-up all of our regulars (including volunteers) on the day.
We’ll be posting photos from the day as well as a more detailed schedule for the next few weeks worth of classes in the coming days.
For anyone who did not get to sign-up yesterday, there’s no need to worry, just meet us @6.00pm on Wednesday the 3rd of March near the UQUnion complex.
Update for Market Day
February 17th, 2011Hi everyone, just a quick message that I made a mistake on the Market day event. It will be on Wednesday the 23rd, not Thursday the 24th. I have updated the post accordingly but if this will affect any people who have already said that they would help out, then please let us know by emailing as at volunteer@uqdance.net.
New UQDance Website!
February 14th, 2011Hi Everybody and welcome to the new and improved UQ Dance website. This site is designed to facilitate a clear and open line of communication between us – the executive team – and you the UQDance members that are what makes this club so great.
The new site has all of the usual stuff - Club Information, a new page for our Dance Troupe and a Gallery section – although you’ll have to wait a little while before thats all there 
.
Aside from that we’ve also implemented a new calendar system. What this means for you is that you’ll be able to pop over to the Calendar page and see EVERY event that’s currently on the cards. You can even go and view each event individually by going to the List View and get a MAP for all of those hard to find one-off social events in weird places. You can also access our Facebook and Twitter pages right through the menu bar.
Oh and about our Twitter account. Anyone who signs up with an account can follow @UQDance to get updates about club happenings and events. You can also use insert ‘#UQDance’ (without the quotes) in any of your Tweets and it will appear right on our website! You can use this to let other members know about a dance school or social dance spot, a new move you just aced or anything that might be of interest to other UQDance members.
A word on the mailing list – as any of you who are currently on the mailing list will probably have gathered, the old mailing list has been shut down and a new one setup in its place. The reasons for this are two-fold. One we had a lot of Spam going to old account and we’d like to start fresh. You may have noticed that the new site uses Captchas to help prevent this. Secondly we have a LOT of people on the list who haven’t been active members for a while now. So from now on all members will be signed onto the mailing list, and receive our weekly(-ish) newsletter for the year. At the beginning of each new year, the database will be purged and a new set of members will be able to sign on.
As the site is still very fresh you may find some niggles. If you do I would love you to send me a message and let me know so that I can fix it right away. You can either send me an email at feedback@uqdance.net or use the handy form over at the Contact Us page.
For now we’ll say that the site is in ‘beta’ so be prepared to watch things change over the coming months as we polish the site.
